The Hispanic Cultural Resource Foundation closes out Hispanic Heritage season in Ybor City with the Taste of Latino Festival, spreading Latin food and live music across Centennial Park and three surrounding brick streets. The cooking contests come in rounds. Chefs compete for Top Latino Chef, judged on site with a cash award for the winner, and there's an empanada and taco smackdown on top of that. Bands and dance troupes rotate through the stage between rounds, and the afternoon builds to the Florida Latino and Latina Lideres being called up and recognized in front of the crowd. Seating is whatever you carry in, and organizers ask you to bring a lawn chair. The general grounds are free; a separate VIP ticket, sold in advance, gets you into the Ybor City Museum Garden, which has its own stage and seating and hosts the sangria and cerveza showdowns. The foundation posts each year's hours on its site.
