Dade City Kumquat Festival

The kumquat, a thumb-sized citrus from the Pasco County groves around Dade City, gets its own festival every January, and the town closes its downtown streets for it. Hundreds of vendor booths fill the blocks around the Historic Pasco County Courthouse. Crafts and farmers market goods share the booths with a long list of kumquat products: pie, jelly, butter and the fresh fruit itself, sold by the mesh bag from the Kumquat Growers stand in the Wells Fargo lot. A car and truck show fills the judicial courthouse parking lot and keeps festival hours, and a quilt show rings the courthouse fountain from 11am to 4pm. The Kid's Corral runs activities for younger visitors. Many vendors don't take cards, so carry cash, and the organizers ask that pets stay home. Admission is free and the festival runs 9am to 5pm on the streets of downtown, with parking at various spots around it.
