Dade City closes its downtown streets every January for a festival built around the kumquat, the thumb-sized citrus grown in the surrounding Pasco County groves. Hundreds of vendor booths fill the blocks around the Historic Pasco County Courthouse, selling crafts, farmers market goods and a long list of kumquat products: pie, jelly, butter, and fresh fruit sold by the mesh bag from the Kumquat Growers stand in the Wells Fargo lot. A car and truck show fills the judicial courthouse parking lot, a quilt show rings the courthouse fountain, and the Kid's Corral runs activities for younger visitors. Know before you go: admission is free and the festival runs 9am to 5pm. It is held on the streets of downtown Dade City, with parking available at various locations around downtown. The quilt show runs 11am to 4pm and the car show keeps festival hours. Bring cash, since many vendors do not take cards, and leave pets at home at the organizers' request.
