Tarpon Springs Seafood Festival
600 Hill St. and Dodecanese Blvd., Tarpon Springs, FL 34689
About this happenin
The Tarpon Springs Seafood Festival fills the Sponge Docks each November with stone crab claws, grouper baskets and wide paella pans working over open flame. Vendors run the length of Dodecanese Boulevard and out onto the field at Hill Street, a chef competition crowns Tampa Bay's best seafood dish, and local bands play across the weekend. Artisans take the gaps between food booths with nautical art, fishing apparel and kitchen goods, and landlubbers are planned for rather than tolerated. Know before you go: admission is free. Gates open at 10 in the morning, Saturday runs until 9 at night, and Sunday closes in the late afternoon. Complimentary parking and a shuttle run from Splash Park and Tarpon Towers, which saves you hunting for a space near the water. Leashed, well behaved dogs are welcome, and kids get a jump zone with bouncy castles, face painting and games.
