Halloween on Central closes 22 blocks of Central Avenue to traffic, turning St. Petersburg's Grand Central and EDGE districts into one costumed street party. The Grand Central District Association stages it on a Sunday afternoon in late October, and the route splits into themed stretches: the EDGE District's Kooky Spooky end from 8th to 16th Street, the Voodoo Vendor Village from 16th to 21st, a women-owned Gal-o-ween block, the oddities vendors of SpookEasy Hallow, and FrankenPride with St Pete Pride. Live music, local makers and a lot of candy fill everything between. Know before you go: it runs noon to 5pm, and the whole stretch is car-free, so pick an end and walk. The EDGE District points drivers to the Central Parking Garage at 1388 1st Avenue North, and organizers name PSTA's SunRunner as the official ride in. The Boo-levard of Play family zone brings kid activities and a costume contest, with a sensory area offering non-edible treats and a quiet break. Wear a costume, bring a bag.
