Every July 3, Red Hot & Boom sends fireworks up over Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs for a crowd that runs into the hundreds of thousands. The finale is choreographed to music through the park's sound system and doubles in the reflection off Cranes Roost Lake, so the lawn ringing the water fills first. Bring a blanket or folding chairs for a spot on it. Live music and food vendors take up the hours before the show. Roads around Uptown Altamonte close, so park at the Altamonte Mall or nearby lots. If you bring a cooler, make it soft-sided with a shoulder strap. Wheeled or oversized coolers, glass, alcohol, grills, personal fireworks and drones are turned away, and pets are barred from the park from 7 a.m. on event day. Food and drink are sold on site, and a beer garden serves ages 21 and up with valid ID. The whole evening is free, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with fireworks at roughly 9:30, weather permitting.
