Light Up Mount Dora is the night the city flips the switch on its downtown holiday display, turning Donnelly Park, Sunset Park and the storefronts between them into one lit walk. The tree in Sunset Park comes on after dark, fireworks follow, and Santa sets up for photos while restaurants and shops stay open late around the squares. Think of it as opening night rather than a single evening: the same lights return nightly through January 1, then on weekends through February 1. Know before you go: admission is free. Recent editions have run from late afternoon until about 9pm, with the switch-on once it is dark. Downtown parking fills early, so come well ahead; the city runs offsite event shuttle parking and a free Freebee ride service, both detailed on its event parking page. Bring a chair or a blanket if you want to settle in for the music. Children do well here, with Santa photos and park programming built into the evening.
