Gretna Oktoberfest
519 Huey P. Long Ave, Gretna, LA 70053
About this happenin
The German-American Cultural Center and Museum in Gretna turns its parking lot at Sixth Street and Huey P. Long Avenue into an Oktoberfest beer garden, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a Saturday in mid-October. Two German bands play, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Brats come off the grill, pretzels are baked on site, the sauerkraut is homemade and the German beer and wine are served cold. Food and drinks are sold separately, but the beer garden and the museum at 519 Huey P. Long Avenue are both free to enter. The museum keeps the story of the German settlers who founded Mechanikham in 1836, the village that became Gretna.
More in October: 14 other New Orleans events.
