Lafayette Square Park, at 602 St. Charles Avenue, hosts the free Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival every October. Music runs on two stages, the St. Charles Avenue Stage and the Camp Street Stage, across the three days. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation has produced the festival since 2006. The food market is local chefs and pastry cooks, so menus lean toward smoked brisket and stacked poboys. Asian fusion ribs are the change of pace. Vegetarian and vegan plates are on offer, along with gluten-free options. An arts market sells work by local artisans. The St. Charles streetcar and the No. 11 Magazine Street bus run nearby, with street parking and a paid lot at Poydras Center. Outside food and drinks, coolers included, stay home unless you have small children or dietary needs, and only service animals come in. A 75-foot perimeter around the stages is kept clear of chairs.
