Morganton Point is where to swim and camp on Lake Blue Ridge, the Tennessee Valley Authority reservoir at Blue Ridge, Georgia. Its beach has outdoor showers, and its campground is the only developed one on the lake. Sites can be booked as late as the same day, but only on Recreation.gov. On the west side, the Forest Service's Lake Blue Ridge Recreation Area is free and open all year, with no drinking water. At the marina in Blue Ridge, which is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, kayaks and paddle boards go out first come, first served until 3 p.m. The marina's fishing guides go after smallmouth bass, which they say few lakes in Georgia have.
