About

The Fisher Family Pier at Pompano Beach runs nearly 900 feet into the Atlantic and ends in the shape of a pompano. Nobody fishing it needs a Florida fishing license, and the bait shop on the pier rents rods. A monument there honors the Continental Marines' 1776 amphibious landing, which the city calls the first of its kind on foreign soil. About three miles of beach run up to Hillsboro Inlet. You can reach coral reefs from shore.
