Sandbars around the William O. Lockhart Municipal Pier make what Lake Worth Beach's redevelopment agency calls the most consistent surf in South Florida. The pier dates to 1954. After Hurricane Frances in 2004 it was repaired and raised five feet. On the second and fourth Fridays from November to February, the city hosts bonfires at the Casino and Beach Complex.
