About

Around 20 osprey nests are active each spring on Honeymoon Island, at the end of the Dunedin Causeway, and bald eagles have nested here since 2009. In 1940 some 50 palm-thatched cottages opened on the island as a honeymoon resort; 164 couples had stayed by December 1941, and none of the cottages survived the war. The ferry to Caladesi Island leaves from a dock inside the park, so you come in through the park gate to catch it. The ride takes about 20 minutes, and stays on Caladesi are capped at four hours.
