Dunedin's Old Fashioned Christmas & Holiday Parade
Douglas Avenue at Main Street, Dunedin, FL 34698
About this happenin
Dunedin closes Douglas Avenue on a December Saturday and sends floats, bands and Santa north from Beltrees Street, then turns downtown into a street party. The Old Fashioned Christmas half begins the moment the last float passes. Clydesdale-drawn carriages run Main Street, a snow slide and an ice rink go up on the pavement, kids roast marshmallows for s'mores, street performers work the sidewalks, and machine-made flurries fall over Main Street and Broadway. Live music plays in Pioneer Park, and the rink supplies skates plus handcarts for anyone who has never been on ice. Know before you go: the parade steps off at 3:30 p.m. and travels Douglas Avenue from Beltrees Street north to Skinner Boulevard. Admission is free, and donations collected at the activity areas go to the Dunedin For Youth Scholarship Fund. Because Douglas closes to traffic, the city runs a free Jolley Trolley shuttle from satellite lots at Virginia Street and New York Avenue and at Curtis Fundamental, dropping riders near the center of the activities.
