North Straub Park gets real snow one Saturday in early December, packed into toboggan slides with runs for adults and for children. The grass under the live oaks holds inflatables, craft tents stocked with markers and blank ornaments, a decorated tree and a row of food trucks. It's the most hands-on day of the city's Holidays in the Sunshine City season, whose other events are mostly parades and movies in the park. It runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 400 Bayshore Dr. NE, for all ages with a registered adult. A $5 activity wristband covers everything except the food trucks. Buy one ahead, online or at a city recreation center, or on site the day of. Online orders are picked up at will call with the receipt and a photo ID.
