For one Saturday in early December, North Straub Park gets real snow, packed into toboggan slides with runs for adults as well as children. The rest plays out on the grass under the live oaks: inflatables, craft tents stocked with markers and blank ornaments, a decorated tree, and a row of food trucks. It is the most concrete single day of the city's Holidays in the Sunshine City season, which otherwise runs to parades, movies in the park, and visits with Santa. Know before you go: the hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 400 Bayshore Dr. NE, and a $5 activity wristband covers the slides, inflatables and crafts, with anything from the food trucks paid separately. Wristbands are sold online and at city recreation centers in advance, and on site the day of. Order online and you collect them at will call with your receipt and a photo ID. All ages welcome with a registered adult.
