About this happenin

Downtown Dunedin has run its own Fat Tuesday parade since the early 1990s, and it still fills Douglas Avenue with more than fifty floats and flying beads. The route goes from Beltrees Street north to Skinner Boulevard, with a street festival built around the Pioneer Park stage, live bands, and food and drink from local businesses. Crowds run into the tens of thousands, and regulars claim curb space well before the first float. Know before you go: general admission is free, and VIP viewing packages are sold separately. Recent editions have run from 5 to 10 in the evening, with the parade stepping off at 7. Downtown has public lots, garages and street parking, and the city publishes a road closure map and a Jolley Trolley route ahead of each year. Coolers and pets are not permitted. Bring a small bag for the throws, wear purple, green and gold, and carry some cash.
