On the evening of June 12, the City of Orlando holds a public memorial for the 49 people killed at Pulse nightclub on June 12, 2016. The whole community is invited to gather in remembrance alongside the families, survivors, first responders and trauma teams. The Orlando Gay Chorus performs, joined by local cultural artists, and the evening closes with a candlelight ceremony and a reading of the 49 names. The venue can change between years. One recent ceremony was held at First United Methodist Church of Orlando, 142 East Jackson Street downtown, starting at 5:30 p.m. For anyone who cannot be there in person, the city streams the ceremony live on pulseorlando.org in English and in Spanish.
