About this happenin

Central Florida Earth Day takes over the east side of Lake Eola Park for one Saturday each April, a free festival of green exhibits, live music and all-vegan food. Vegetarians of Central Florida has staged it since 2006, making it the region's longest-running Earth Day event. Tents ring the lake with conservation groups, cooking demonstrations, an Artist Corner of local makers, a Mind Body Spirit area, and an Animal Haven where rescue groups bring adoptable dogs. The Earth Kids Zone covers the younger end with face painting and hands-on activities. Know before you go: admission is free and the day runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Every food vendor is plant-based, so arrive hungry. Organizers push the festival toward zero waste and ask you to bring a reusable container and cutlery. Parking is standard downtown fare, with metered street spots, garages and side streets nearby, and meters enforced on Saturdays. Free bike racks sit at E. Central Boulevard and N. Eola Drive, and LYNX buses serve the park. Dogs are welcome, and the event is alcohol-free and smoke-free.
