About this happenin
Every food vendor at Central Florida Earth Day is plant-based, so come hungry. Vegetarians of Central Florida, which has staged it since 2006, sets up on the east side of Lake Eola Park one Saturday each April, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There's no admission charge. Tents ring the lake with conservation groups, cooking demonstrations, an Artist Corner of local makers, a Mind Body Spirit area and an Animal Haven where rescue groups bring adoptable dogs. There's live music, and the Earth Kids Zone covers the younger end with face painting and hands-on activities. Organizers push toward zero waste and ask you to bring a reusable container and cutlery. Dogs are welcome, and the event is alcohol-free and smoke-free. Parking is standard downtown fare: metered street spots and garages, with side streets nearby. Meters are enforced on Saturdays. Free bike racks sit at E. Central Boulevard and N. Eola Drive, and LYNX buses serve the park.
