About this happenin

The Orlando Tet Festival brings lion and dragon dancing, firecracker showers and a 16,000 square foot Vietnamese food court to the Central Florida Fairgrounds each Lunar New Year. St. Philip Phan Van Minh Catholic Parish has run it for more than three decades under its Vietnamese name, Hoi Tet Ve Nguon, out on Colonial Drive west of the Mills 50 shops that anchor Vietnamese Orlando. Expect banh mi and spring rolls, noodle bowls and sweets, martial arts demonstrations, and a Saturday night variety concert built around singers from Vietnam and the Vietnamese American music scene. Know before you go: admission is free. Both days open at 10 a.m., Saturday runs past midnight for the concert, and Sunday closes at 5 p.m. after a morning Mass on the grounds. Children get a games area with bounce houses, carnival games and face painting. Vendors take cash and cards, and much of the festival sits on open grass, so dress for standing outdoors.
