Orlando Greek Fest
1217 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, FL 32751
About this happenin
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church hands its Maitland campus over to a three-day Greek festival every November, built around a live band, lamb and honeyed pastry. The kouzina plates braised lamb with rice and stewed green beans, the grill runs gyro and souvlaki, saganaki gets flamed to order, and loukoumades come out hot under honey and cinnamon. Four Hellenic dance troupes, from the small children up to the adult group, rotate onto the floor between the band's sets, and vendors set up under a large pavilion. Tours of the sanctuary, painted floor to dome in Byzantine iconography, run through the weekend. Know before you go: Admission is free and the festival goes on rain or shine, opening Friday afternoon into the night, running all day Saturday, and closing early Sunday evening. On-site parking in the church lot is ten dollars, first come first served, with accessible spaces for permit holders. Two off-site lots on Wymore Road are linked to the main entrance by a free air-conditioned shuttle.
