IMMERSE
400 S Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32801
About this happenin
For one February weekend, ten blocks of downtown Orlando close to traffic and fill with acrobats, projection art and walk-in inflatable sculpture. IMMERSE is the Creative City Project's annual takeover of Orange Avenue between Central Boulevard and Anderson Street, spilling onto Pine and Church, with hundreds of performances packed so tightly that a single block can hand you a brass band, a fire spinner and a light installation you can lie down inside. Know before you go: walking the streets and watching the outdoor performances costs nothing, while optional upgrade tickets add stage access and reserved viewing areas. Friday and Saturday programming runs in the evening, roughly 5pm to 11pm, and Sunday brings a daytime fireworks show over Lake Eola. Downtown garages including the Library, City Hall and 55 West are the practical parking, and rideshare drop-offs work best a few blocks off Orange. Almost all of it suits young audiences, strollers included, though some content after 9pm skews older.
