Diwali Mela Festival of Lights

About this happenin
Diwali Mela brings the Festival of Lights to the Walt Disney Amphitheater at Lake Eola Park, a free downtown Orlando celebration each October. Central Florida's Indian and Indo-Caribbean community groups have run it since 1995, so the stage carries classical and Bollywood dance alongside Guyanese and Trinidadian singers, while the paths around the amphitheater fill with food stalls as the lake goes dark. Know before you go: admission is free and no ticket is required. It takes a Saturday afternoon into the evening, typically starting around 4 p.m. and finishing near 9 p.m., so the lamps and stage lighting land in the final hours. Lake Eola Park has no lot of its own and the city lists on-street parking around it, so leave time to find a space downtown. Children are welcome, and it has stayed a free, open-to-all event for three decades.
