About this happenin
Classical and Bollywood dance share the stage with Guyanese and Trinidadian singers at Diwali Mela, because Central Florida's Indian and Indo-Caribbean community groups have run it together since 1995. The free Festival of Lights is held at the Walt Disney Amphitheater at Lake Eola Park on a Saturday each October, usually from about 4 to 9 p.m. As the lake goes dark, the paths around the amphitheater fill with food stalls, and the lamps and stage lighting come into their own in those final hours. No ticket is required, and children are welcome. Lake Eola Park has no lot of its own, and the city lists on-street parking around it, so leave time to find a space downtown.
