Swine, lamb, cattle, poultry, rabbits, cavies and horses: thousands of 4-H and FFA projects are judged in the show rings at the Central Florida Fair. One local nonprofit has run the fair for more than a century. Past the show rings, a full midway of coasters and game booths shares the grounds with competitive exhibits and stage acts. The fair runs eleven days each late winter on the West Colonial Drive fairgrounds, with parking on site. Gates open at 4 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends, and last entry is 10 p.m. Children 6 and under don't pay. Discount nights typically include an opening night deal for a canned-food donation, a $2 Tuesday, free admission for school employees, and the same for military and first responders. Anyone 17 and under must come with a parent or guardian 21 or older, who may escort two minors. ID is checked at the gate.
