About this happenin
The Seminole County Fair brings a full James E. Strates Shows carnival midway to Hickman Drive in Sanford for about ten days each spring, free to walk into. The Orlando-based show hauls in around thirty rides, from the Giant Wheel and the Zipper to a Himalaya, a Tilt-a-Whirl and a Haunted Mansion dark ride, alongside a separate Kiddieland scaled for smaller children, games of skill down the row, and the fried and sugared fair food that goes with them. Know before you go: admission is free, so you only pay for what you ride, eat or play. Rides run on tickets sold in bundles or on an unlimited-ride wristband. Gates open at 4 p.m. on weekdays and early afternoon at weekends. Rides carry manufacturer height, age and weight limits, and closing times shift with the weather and the size of the crowd.
