Kissimmee throws itself a birthday party every March, and Kowtown Festival is it: free live music on the Festival Lawn at Lakefront Park, food trucks, vendor booths and a cake cut on stage under confetti. The nickname is earned. Kissimmee was a cattle-shipping town long before it was a theme park gateway, and the festival leans into that with cowboy hats, a longhorn skull logo and a country-leaning lineup beside Lake Tohopekaliga. The city has marked the anniversary of its 1883 incorporation this way for years, and the crowd skews local and family heavy. Know before you go: admission is free, and the festival runs a Saturday afternoon from noon. The KUA Kids Power Zone keeps younger children busy, and free birthday cake is handed out on stage. Parking downtown is free, including the Toho Square garage at 92 Pleasant Street one block from the park, the Kissimmee Intermodal and Osceola County Courthouse garages, and on-street spaces along Lakeview Drive. Outside coolers, tents and umbrellas are not allowed.
