About this happenin
Que Pasa Fest celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month over a weekend each October at Lafreniere Park in Metairie. The Cervantes Fundación Hispanoamericana de Arte, a nonprofit founded in 1982, started it in 2011 as a gathering of about 1,000 people. In 2025 more than 13,000 visitors came. Gates open at 11 a.m. and the music runs until 9 p.m. on both days. Folding chairs are welcome; coolers and outside food and drinks are not. Vendors cook dishes from a range of Latin American countries, with local nonprofits and businesses running booths alongside them. Over the years the stage has hosted more than 100 performers, among them Luis Enrique, Los Van Van, Descemer Bueno and Rockin' Dopsie Jr.
More in October: 14 other New Orleans events.
