Christmas in the Park at Lafreniere Park

Jefferson Parish strings more than 10 million LED lights through Lafreniere Park in Metairie each December, in themed displays dusted with artificial snow. You can drive through or walk. Cars enter from West Napoleon Avenue and circle the park counterclockwise to the exit at Downs Boulevard. It runs nightly from December 1 to 30 and closes on Christmas Day, 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and the first night opens with a lighting ceremony. Admission is per vehicle, card only, no cash; in 2025 it was $20 in advance online or $25 at the gate. On foot there is an interactive tour set to scenes from favorite classics, and the carousel runs until 9 each night. At Santa's Express Mail Center children watch elves build toys, then write to Santa and post the letter at the Elf Post Office.
