Every Saturday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, the Gretna Farmers Market sets up in the covered market building on Huey P. Long Avenue, between 3rd and 4th Streets in historic downtown Gretna. The roof means it goes ahead year-round, rain or shine. The City of Gretna runs it, on the West Bank, a short drive across the river from New Orleans. Growers set out tables of fresh produce, and other vendors bring prepared foods and homemade goods. On the second Saturday of each month from September through December, and again from March through May, the Gretna Art Walk shares the day, with artists showing and selling their crafts.
