Old Arabi Sugar Fest

About this happenin

Sugar Fest, put on by the Old Arabi Neighborhood Association at the Aycock Barn, 409 Aycock Street in Arabi, runs from noon to 7 pm on a Saturday in early fall. The neighborhood has held it since 2009. Getting in is free, and nobody may bring in outside food or drink. Domino gives away sugar. Live bands play through the afternoon and vendors sell food and crafts, while a dessert baking competition and a donut-eating contest run alongside the music and a kids' tent offers face painting and activities. Questions go to the St. Bernard Parish tourism office at 504-278-4242. Bus tours take people through the historic streets of Old Arabi, the architecture the association works to preserve.
