About this happenin
Every October the New Orleans Film Society runs the New Orleans Film Festival from a Festival Hub at the Contemporary Arts Center on Camp Street in the Warehouse District. Screenings also fill The Broad Theater in Tremé and the Prytania Theatre Uptown, among other rooms around the city. The first festival was in 1989, and it now qualifies short films in three Academy Award categories. A second line parade follows the opening night film. Filmmakers stay for post-screening Q&As, and most of the lineup comes from open submissions. South Pitch, the society's program for Southern filmmakers, holds public events during the run, and most of the lineup also streams online for several days afterward. Passes cover the whole run. Parking is in paid lots around the CAC, plus metered street spots.
More in October: 14 other New Orleans events.
