Freret Street Festival
Freret Street between Napoleon Avenue and Valmont Street, New Orleans, LA 70115
About this happenin
The Freret Street Festival fills six blocks of Freret Street in Uptown New Orleans, from Napoleon to Valmont, with more than 200 local artists and cooks, and around 20,000 people come. Admission is free, and the day has run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Three stages carry about 20 bands, Mardi Gras Indians among them. More than 40 businesses line the route, oysters char on open grills, and the food tents send out local seafood. It began in 1998 as a neighborhood celebration and homeownership fair, and it was a spring festival for years before the date shifted. Market Festivals, Inc., which also runs the monthly Freret Market, produces it, and the Rotary Club of New Orleans Riverbend has operated that organization since 2019.
