Redland Summer Fruit Festival
24801 SW 187th Ave, Homestead, FL 33031
About this happenin
Miami-Dade Parks runs the Summer Fruit Festival every June at Fruit & Spice Park in Homestead, the county's 37-acre botanical garden in the Redland farm district. Its mango display, billed as the biggest in the region, puts nearly 200 varieties on the tables. Admission covers the garden as well as the festival. Free workshops and fruit and honey tastings run through the day. There is a watermelon eating contest, raffles, lawn games for kids, a petting zoo and live music. More than 50 vendors sell food and crafts, plus fruit trees and plants to carry home. Hours have been 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some years it is a single day and some years a full weekend. Tickets bought online ahead have been 20 percent cheaper, and children five and under get in free. Large coolers and pets, service animals aside, have been kept out.
