The Jacks River Trail goes through the water at least 40 times in 15.7 miles of the Cohutta Wilderness, on the Georgia-Tennessee line. Most of it follows an old logging railroad bed. The river can flash flood in heavy rain, and the trailheads have no drinking water or restrooms. Jacks River Falls is in the Beech Bottom area, which is day use only from April through October, with campfires banned all year. From January 1 to early March the lots at Three Forks, Betty Gap, Chestnut Lead and Tearbritches close to cars, though the trails stay open from other trailheads.
