The roadside overlooks at Black Rock Mountain State Park in Mountain City look out 80 miles, so you get the view without a hike. It's usually one of the first Georgia state parks to show fall color, and icy weather can close it. From the Marie Mellinger Center, the tenth-mile Norma Campbell Cove Trail loops down to the springs that feed Stekoa Creek and the Chattooga River. On the Tennessee Rock Trail, the park's most popular hike, an EF-2 tornado brought down trees on the western edge, where the climb to the summit starts, and opened views in several places.
