On a lucky day you can pick out the Atlanta skyline from the observation deck on Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest point, near Hiawassee. The shuttle from the parking lot doesn't run between 12:30 and 1:10, and the last one up leaves at 4:30. If you'd rather walk, the paved Summit Trail is 0.6 mile and very steep. Pack water, since there's none to drink on site, and check the Forest Service's two live webcams before you make the drive.
