About two dozen chalk artists kneel on the sidewalks of 22nd Street South and turn two blocks of the historic Deuces into a one-day open-air gallery. The Pinellas Diaspora Arts Project runs it at family scale: professionals, beginners, and kids with a box of pastels work side by side, each edition built around an environmental theme, with a midday panel of local water and climate experts at the WADA ArtsXchange around the corner. Music, face painting, and children's activities fill in around the drawing, and the Deuces kitchens stay open, so lunch is a few steps away at Lorene's Fish and Crab House, Heavy's, Catalyst, or Urban Drinkery. Know before you go: the artists work on 22nd Street South between 7th and 9th Avenues South, and the panel meets at 515 22nd Street South. Recent editions have started at 10 am and finished by late afternoon. Families, artists, and volunteers each sign up through separate forms on the festival site. Rain takes the art away, so go the day of.
