St. Petersburg's illuminated Santa Parade leaves Albert Whitted Park at 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday in late November and finishes at North Straub Park on the waterfront. The tree there has no set time of its own. It goes on right after the parade ends, so go early for a spot along the route. St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation runs the night as the opener for Holidays in the Sunshine City, the city's season of holiday events, and local organizations and businesses can apply to march. The waterfront light displays in North Straub Park, South Straub Park, Pioneer Park and the St. Pete Pier run through the holidays, so there is more to walk once the tree is on.
