About this happenin

The largest boat show on the Gulf Coast fills the Mahaffey Theater Yacht Basin and Albert Whitted Park each January, with powerboats and sailboats in the water and on land along St. Petersburg's downtown waterfront. New and brokerage boats sit side by side, so a center console, a cruising yacht and a kayak are all one walk apart, and a 40,000 square foot tent holds the gear and electronics that go with them. Know before you go: doors open at 10am daily, closing at 6pm Thursday through Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. Seminars, Captain Don Dingman's Hook the Future kids' fishing clinics and on-water boat courses with the Annapolis School of Seamanship are included with admission; the courses require advance registration, and children at the clinics receive a rod and reel combo. Preferred parking is at the Mahaffey Theater on 1st Street South, with the South Core and Sundial garages nearby, and the Al Lang lot open Thursday, Friday and Sunday only, since the Saturday Morning Market takes it over. The free Downtown Looper trolley stops at the Mahaffey.
