The murals go up across seven districts, and two of the downtown St. Pete hotels, the Ponce de Leon at 95 Central Avenue and the Moxy at 1234, are on Central Avenue, which runs through the Central and Grand Central districts.

Muralists from around the world paint St. Petersburg's walls for ten days each November, and you can watch the paint go up from the sidewalk. The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance produces SHINE and has kept it invitation-only since 2015, which is how the city came to count close to 200 permanent murals. Over the run, primer on a blank warehouse flank becomes a finished piece you can come back to for years. There's no single venue. Work happens across the Central, Edge, Grand Central, Warehouse Arts, Waterfront Museum, Historic Roser Park and MLK North districts, so pick one district and walk it instead of driving wall to wall. The Mural Quest St. Pete app maps 185-plus murals with artist bios and suggested routes, and it works offline. Star Trolley runs guided mural tours. SHINE was the first festival in the world with an accessible audio tour, and the Arts Alliance takes accessibility questions at (727) 754-6404.
