About this happenin
BungalowFest opens the front doors of Historic Kenwood, the St. Petersburg neighborhood packed with 1920s Craftsman bungalows, for one self-guided Saturday. Homeowners let ticket holders inside houses that are usually private, and the lineup changes from one edition to the next, which is why the same people keep coming back. Kenwood doubles as the city's Artist Enclave, so painters and makers turn up along the route. Know before you go: check-in and registration begin at St. Petersburg High School, and free trolleys run through the neighborhood all day if you would rather not walk the whole route. Petersburg High School on 5th Avenue North, and the tour runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets cost less bought in advance than on the day, and they cover refreshments as well as a continuous trolley that loops the neighborhood, so you can ride between stops or walk the whole thing at your own pace. Comfortable shoes help. Proceeds go back into neighborhood programs, support for local artists and beautification work.
