The Old Seminole Heights Home Tour is Tampa's oldest and best attended home tour, a self-guided Sunday route through restored bungalows north of downtown. The neighborhood association has built it into its biggest fundraiser of the year, drawing between 750 and 1,000 people and taking more than 100 volunteers to staff. Stops have mixed private houses with a local church and a neighborhood business, and money raised goes back into murals, park upgrades, bike racks, benches and library programming. Know before you go: buy ahead, since advance tickets have cost less than day of tickets and entry has been released in limited half hour slots. Ticket holders pick up a wristband at the tour hub, which changes with each year's route and is announced with the tickets. Stops sit close enough together that the association encourages walking, biking or ride sharing rather than driving. The tour goes ahead rain or shine.
