Restored bungalows north of downtown Tampa open their doors, rain or shine, for one self-guided Sunday on the Old Seminole Heights Home Tour, the city's oldest and best attended home tour. The neighborhood association has built it into its biggest fundraiser of the year, and the money pays for murals, park upgrades, bike racks, benches and library programming. It draws between 750 and 1,000 people and takes more than 100 volunteers to staff. Past routes have mixed private houses with a local church and a neighborhood business. Buy ahead. Advance tickets have cost less than day-of tickets, and entry has been released in limited half-hour slots. Ticket holders pick up a wristband at the tour hub, which changes with each year's route and is announced with the tickets. The stops sit close enough together that the association encourages walking or biking, or ride sharing, over driving.
