The ZORA! Festival fills East Kennedy Boulevard in Eatonville each winter, turning the nation's oldest incorporated Black township into three days of art, music and heritage. Running since 1990 under the Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community, it honors Zora Neale Hurston in the town she wrote into American literature, with outdoor stages, a long row of makers and food vendors, historical exhibits, student showcases and hands-on activities for children. Know before you go: the festival runs Friday through Sunday. Friday is Education Day and free to all; Saturday and Sunday are ticketed, with single-day passes, a two-day combo and a VIP tier sold in advance. Gates open in the morning, and Saturday runs latest, into the early evening. Kennedy Boulevard closes to traffic the afternoon before the festival opens, so follow the posted detours, expect street parking near the site to fill quickly, and use the marked shuttle and park-and-ride options.
