Three independent judges pick a little over 200 exhibitors from more than a thousand applications worldwide. Best of Show is a $12,000 purchase award, part of $76,500 in cash prizes. The exhibitors' painting, glass, metal sculpture and photography go up under white tents in Central Park for three days each March, and Park Avenue closes to traffic, as it has for more than six decades. A music stage runs at the north end of the park, and the Children's Workshop lets kids make something and carry it home. There are no designated festival lots and no shuttle. The Rollins College garage at the south end of Park Avenue charges a fee, and charitable groups run paid lots on Interlachen and New York avenues. Cyclists get a free bike corral on Morse Boulevard across from the train station lot. Admission is free, and hours are 9am to 6pm Friday and Saturday and 9am to 5pm Sunday. Pets are barred from Central Park during festival hours.
