About this happenin

Every Saturday morning, Central Park's West Meadow in Winter Park fills with growers, bakers and plant sellers at a market the city has run since 1979. It began in the old freight depot on West New England Avenue and now spreads across the lawn under live oaks at New York Avenue and Morse Boulevard, with produce stands, orchids and bedding plants, bread, meat and seafood, coffee and prepared breakfast. Resale merchandise and nationally distributed packaged goods are not permitted, so the tables stay local. Know before you go: hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., admission is free, and arriving early means better selection and easier parking. Park free in the lot by the SunRail station on Morse Boulevard or on nearby side streets, with levels four and five of the Park Place garage at 150 West Canton Avenue and the Rollins College Truist garage at 131 East Comstock Avenue as backups. Leashed dogs are welcome, kept clear of crowded pathways. A few Saturdays a year the market moves to Seven Oaks Park when an art festival takes the meadow.
