About this happenin

Winter Park shuts Park Avenue and fills Central Park for a free 4th of July Celebration built on a children's bicycle parade, brass music and free pie. The city has run it since 1996 and the shape holds: opening remarks and the National Anthem from the main stage, the Bach Festival Choir and Brass Ensemble under John Sinclair, a Kids Zone in the adjoining West Meadow with carnival midway games and bounce slides, and individual mini pies and water from Winter Park Electric while supplies last. Children decorate their bikes at the corner of Park Avenue and Morse Boulevard, then ride to the stage. Know before you go: admission is free and open to the public. Recent editions have run in the evening, roughly 6 to 9 p.m., with the bicycle parade about half an hour in. Bring blankets and lawn chairs, and wear red, white and blue. Park Avenue closes between Morse Boulevard and Canton Avenue, so park off the avenue and walk in. The Morse Museum and the Winter Park History Museum open free in conjunction.
