Winter on the Avenue

Winter on the Avenue turns Park Avenue into a pedestrian plaza for a street party and lights the Christmas tree in Central Park, just east of the Winter Park train station. It runs 5 to 9 p.m. on a Friday in early December and costs nothing. Carolers stroll the avenue. A Bubble Bus parked on the street sends up thousands of glowing bubbles, and elves on stilts walk the block for photos. In Central Park, Chabad Orlando lights a Chanukah menorah, and the mayor leads the countdown for the tree. There are snow slides and s'mores. Bring a blanket or chairs if you plan to stay for the movie in the park. The Morse Museum is free on Friday nights from 4 p.m., with live music from 5 to 8. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at 6:30 thanks to Winter Park Fire-Rescue, and they take visits and photos until 8.
