Sanford's Independence Day fireworks go up from the downtown marina at 9:15 PM, a professional show that reflects off Lake Monroe. The shells are choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack, and speakers run the length of the waterfront, so the music reaches you wherever you plant your chair. The Riverwalk fills with cirque-style street performers and food and drink vendors, plus local makers selling homemade goods, while a radio partner broadcasts live along Seminole Boulevard between San Juan and Palmetto avenues. Star Spangled Sanford runs 7 to 10 PM. Parking is free in designated lots, including the municipal lot at Palmetto Avenue and Seminole Boulevard, and on the street downtown. Folding chairs and blankets are fine, as is a small personal cooler of about 12 by 12 inches, but pop-up tents and umbrellas have to come down by 8 PM. Pets stay home.
