Sanford's Parade of Lights sends illuminated floats, light-strung cars, dance teams and school marching bands down First Street through historic downtown. Entries come from local schools, businesses and community groups, so the lineup leans homemade and enthusiastic rather than slick. Folding chairs claim curb space along the route well before dark. Know before you go: the parade rolls from 6pm to 8pm on a December Saturday evening, and First Street closes to traffic well ahead of the start, so plan to park off the route and walk in. There is no ticket booth; the registration link on the city page is for groups entering the parade, not for spectators. The city also carries a live stream if you would rather watch from home.
