For a small donation, your dog gets photographed for the Annual Poster Dog Contest at Pints N' Paws, and Facebook votes through April decide whose face lands on next year's poster. It's the craft beer festival in Historic Downtown Sanford that you bring the dog to, with more than 70 breweries pouring and 20-plus food trucks. The founder started it in 2012 after losing his own dog, and every dollar raised goes to local pet rescues, past $1 million so far. Pet Rescue by Judy is a longtime partner. Getting in is free, but sampling means being 21 or over and buying a wristband. VIP adds an air-conditioned lounge with private bathrooms, a full bar, snacks, a festival shirt, a pint glass and a koozie. Dogs are welcome on a leash. Kids are allowed, though the day is built for grown-ups with a beer in one hand and a leash in the other. It's a Saturday daytime event spanning Palmetto Avenue outside Celery City Craft and West End Trading Co. on South Sanford Avenue, and the posted start time shifts from year to year.
