Mount Dora Blueberry Festival

Lake County growers bring just-picked blueberries to Donnelly Park each spring, and more than a hundred vendors set up around them for the Mount Dora Blueberry Festival. The park holds farm stands, blueberry jams and baked goods, crafts, food booths, live music, and blueberry beer and wine for anyone who wants the fruit in a glass. Culinary arts students from Umatilla High School bake the fresh pies. The pie eating contest at 2pm pulls a crowd, with separate youth and adult heats, and sign-ups close an hour before. Downtown lots are small, so most visitors use the paid lot at 900 N. Lincoln Avenue, where the fee covers a round-trip shuttle and supports Kiwanis scholarships. The festival runs 9am to 5pm both days at no charge, but the blueberry pancake breakfast, served through the morning, needs a ticket. Well-behaved pets are allowed but discouraged in the crowds.
