Orlando Japan Festival

A hundred taiko drummers take the field at once to open the Orlando Japan Festival, a free Sunday each November on the great lawn at Kissimmee Lakefront Park. The program covers koto music, martial arts demos, nihon buyo dance, a cosplay contest, tea ceremony, and hands-on tables for calligraphy and origami. Booths sell crafts and anime merchandise, and for food there's takoyaki, yakisoba, okonomiyaki, sushi and taiyaki. The Japan Association of Orlando puts it on, and proceeds support the local Japanese supplementary school. A grand raffle for round-trip tickets to Japan closes the afternoon. It runs late morning until late afternoon, and parking is free. The great lawn is open lakefront grass, so pack a hat and sunscreen, and a folding chair if you'd rather not sit on the ground.
